The new Minneapolis brewery with kayak parking

The brewery boom in Minneapolis continues with the introduction of Pryes Brewing Company’s 13,000 square foot space overlooking the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.

Opening June 17, the spot already has bike racks up for thirsty bicyclists traveling up and down West River Road. Soon, they’ll add spots for those looking to sip on a pint after tying up their kayak from a trip on the river.

Inside, six beers are available, including a fruity Red IPA carrying a healthy 8.1% ABV.

Pryes is working hard to make their spot kid-friendly. Not only are there diaper changing stations in the unisex bathrooms, they have a lineup of small batch sodas and toys to keep kiddos entertained. Plus, they have a kitchen on-site: the current resident is Red Wagon Pizza, and it’s tasty.

There’s also something inside I’ve never seen before: feather bowling. Think of it as a mashup of lawn bowling and curling.

Located on the opposite side of the Mississippi River from Northeast staples Elsie’s and 1029 Bar, Pryes’ taproom has a bit more elegance than some of its neighbors. Beautifully crafted wood tables and counters replace unstable tables and bras hanging from the ceiling.

Before you go:

  • 1401 West River Road, Minneapolis
  • Heads up: their taproom is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • Parking is easy: they have a lot and street parking is ample (no meters!)
  • There’s indoor and patio seating

Head there on a Thursday and pair your visit with a performance of the Twin Cities River Rats, a water ski stunt show happening every Thursday night at 7 p.m. just up the block from Pryes.
