40 Ways to Holiday, Day 29: December 21

In 2017, there are exactly 40 days from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Day. And with the elimination of the eighth floor display at Macy’s in downtown Minneapolis and Holiday Lights in the Park in Saint Paul, along with the disappointing change from tradition at Holidazzle, more people than ever are looking for new holiday activities. Enter “40 Ways to Holiday.” Each day between November 23 and January 1 will have at least one event worth checking out, along with plenty of giveaways along the way! Find the full list of days here.

Day 29: Thursday, December 21

Stay warm at a bonfire in the courtyard, go on a self-guided tour of the mansion, and grab a bite to eat at their restaurant, FIKA. Their Jul shop and Museum Store will be open if you’re looking for a last-minute gift.

Other happenings

  • It’s the final weekend for one of my favorite holiday traditions. Drag queen Miss Richfield 1981 hails from Richfield and takes her show around the world, appearing on cruise ships and on television commercials. This isn’t for the kids. But it’ll offer plenty of laughs. Shows run tonight through Saturday at the Illusion Theater in Downtown Minneapolis. Learn more.
