Ice skating rinks open around Minnesota

If you’re looking to get active outside this winter, here’s a list of ice rinks open to the public around Minnesota.

If your city is not listed on here, please let me know. Some communities were not included because they do not have updated information for 2021-2022.

For many cities, please note that warming houses may unexpectedly be closed due to staffing shortages. 

Some of the more popular rinks are highlighted below. Comment at the bottom of this page with your favorite ice rinks!


Andover — NOT OPEN AS OF 1/2/22

The city of Andover has 7 skating rinks.

4 of those skating rinks have warming houses

Lights are on timers from 4:30 – 9:00 pm


Anoka — INFO MISSING

The city of Anoka has 5 skating rinks.

The city of Anoka’s website has not been updated since 12/30/20, so information is unknown if rinks are open


Blaine — RINKS OPEN

The city of Blaine has 11 outdoor skating rinks.

Bloomington — RINKS OPEN

The city of Bloomington has 8 outdoor skating rinks.

Lights are lit between 4:30-10:00 p.m.

The season is expected to go through February 17, 2022


Burnsville — RINKS OPEN

The city of Burnsville has 11 outdoor skating rinks.

Lights at some locations are turned on by a push button


Coon Rapids — RINKS OPEN

The city of Coon Rapids has 4 outdoor skating rinks and 5 hockey rinks.


Cottage Grove — RINKS OPEN

The city of Cottage Grove has 8 outdoor skating rinks, although 1 is for hockey association use only.


Eagan — RINKS OPEN

The city of Eagan has 9 pleasure rinks.


Eden Prairie — RINKS OPEN

The city of Eden Prairie has 9 skating rinks.


Edina — RINKS OPEN

The city of Edina has 13 skating rinks, including 1 pop up rink.

Fridley — RINKS OPEN

The city of Fridley has 10 outdoor skating rinks and 5 hockey rinks.


Golden Valley — RINKS OPEN

The city of Golden Valley has 10 skating rinks.


Hopkins — RINKS OPEN

The city of Hopkins has 6 outdoor skating rinks. It’s a partnership with the City of Minnetonka

The season is expected to go through February 21, 2022


Inver Grove Heights — RINKS OPEN

The city of Inver Grove Heights has 9 outdoor skating rinks, including 5 pleasure rinks.

The season is expected to go through February 21, 2022


Maplewood — SOME RINKS OPEN 

The city of Maplewood has 13 outdoor skating rinks.

The loop is 810 feet long and 20 feet wide and is designed for recreational ice skating

Open daily from 10:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

Skate rentals are $7


Minneapolis — RINKS OPEN

The city of Minneapolis has 20 rinks for skating.

Note that the City operates two indoor rinks as well; the Parade Ice Garden offers public skating


Minnetonka — RINKS OPEN

The city of Minnetonka has 7 outdoor skating rinks.

The season is expected to go through February 21, 2022


New Brighton — RINKS OPEN

The city of New Brighton operates 4 outdoor skating rinks.


New Hope — RINKS OPEN

The city of New Hope has 3 outdoor skating rinks.


Oakdale — NOT OPEN AS OF 1/2/22

The city of Oakdale has 3 outdoor skating rinks and 1 hockey rink.

Roseville — RINK OPEN

Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL
2661 Civic Center Drive, Roseville

A ticket is required to skate the OVAL. You can purchase them online or at the facility. 

You can purchase tickets for the following week starting at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $7-9 per person. You will pick a 2 hour window to skate


Saint Anthony Village — NOT OPEN AS OF 1/2/22

The city of Saint Anthony Village has 3 skating rinks.

As of 12/27/21, the city’s website did not state that rinks are open


Saint Louis Park — RINKS OPEN

The city of Saint Louis Park has 9 skating rinks with an additional 2 for hockey.

Nelson Park

The rink at Nelson Park has dedicated times where no hockey sticks or goals are allowed

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Wednesday, Friday: 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Sunday: 12:00-2:00 p.m.

The season is expected to go through February 20, 2022


Saint Paul — RINKS OPEN

The city of Saint Paul has 7 outdoor skating rinks.


Shoreview — RINKS OPEN

The city of Shoreview has 7 outdoor skating rinks.


Vadnais Heights — RINKS OPEN

The city of Vadnais Heights has 2 outdoor skating rinks and 1 hockey rink.


West Saint Paul — RINKS OPEN

The city of West Saint Paul has 5 outdoor pleasure rinks.

At a minimum, the Harmon Park rink and warming house is ready


Woodbury — RINKS OPEN

The city of Woodbury has outdoor skating at 5 locations
