Give Me The Mike

Exploring Minnesota and Beyond

RuPaul’s Drag Race stars host drive-in show at Southdale Center in May

The nation's first indoor shopping mall will host two nights of drag right before Memorial Day.

Gentlemen, start your engines! A new pop-up drive-in will take place at Southdale Center in Edina, and fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race will be excited.

“Drive ‘N Drag 2021” pulls in to the shopping mall parking lot Tuesday, May 25 and Wednesday, May 26, 2021. The Minnesota shows are scheduled to featured Drag Race stars Asia O’Hara, Vanessa Vanjie, Naomi Smalls, Pastique, Aquaria, Kameron Michaels and finalists from season 13 of Drag Race, which is currently airing on VH1. An official announcement of who will be in Minnesota has not been published.

General admission for one car with two people is $75. If you want four people in your car, it will set you back $150. You can add additional passengers for $30 per person.

VIP admission for two people in one car is $150. That will get your vehicle closer to the stage.

There’s also a patio, where no car is necessary. You’ll be able to park at the mall, get a ride, or take an Uber. They’ll provide the furniture. Four tickets on the VIP patio cost $250, and four tickets in the front row are $399. Individual tickets are not available.

The winter edition of Drive ‘N Drag featured a stellar cast of Drag Race alumna. This video gives you a taste of what to expect.

I first heard about this event through a sponsored Facebook event. I didn’t trust the organizer, so I went to Asia O’Hara’s website to get information from the official organizers. I’m glad I did. That third party you can purchase tickets through on Facebook is charging up to $10 more per ticket.
