If you’re looking to get active outside this winter, here’s a list of ice rinks open to the public around the Twin Cities, with updated information due to COVID-19.
If your city is not listed on here, please let me know. Some communities were not included because they do not have updated information for 2021.

Ice skating rinks open around the Twin Cities
Andover
The city of Andover has 7 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Lights are on timers from 4:30 – 9:00 pm
Anoka
As of January 3, the city of Anoka’s website states their rinks are not ready for skating.
Blaine
The city of Blaine has 11 outdoor skating rinks.
- As of January 3, not all rinks were open, although their interactive map says all will be open by January 10
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Not all rinks are lit
Bloomington
The city of Bloomington has 9 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Lights are typically turned on between 4:00 – 5:00 pm and off between 8:00 – 9:00 pm (between 7:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday)
- Skate the Star at Mall of America is not happening this winter
Burnsville
The city of Burnsville has 13 outdoor skating rinks.
- Lights at some locations are turned on by a push button
- Warming houses are closed through at least January 11
Coon Rapids
The city of Coon Rapids has 4 outdoor skating rinks and 5 hockey rinks.
Cottage Grove
The city of Cottage Grove has 8 outdoor skating rinks, although 1 is for hockey association use only.
Eagan
The city of Eagan has 21 outdoor skating rinks, including 10 pleasure rinks.
- Due to COVID-19, rinks are limited to 15 people from no more than 3 households
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Eden Prairie
The city of Eden Prairie has 9 skating rinks.
Staring Lake Park
14800 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie
- Free skate rental is available at Staring Lake Park rink
- All rinks are lit from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with an attendant on duty
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Edina
The city of Edina has 14 skating rinks, including 2 pop up rinks.
Centennial Lakes Park
7499 France Avenue, Edina
- 10-acre lake groomed for ice skating
- Open 12:00 – 9:30 pm Sunday – Friday and 10:00 am – 9:30 pm Saturday
- No skate rental is available
- The warming house is closed
Fridley
The city of Fridley has 10 outdoor skating rinks and 5 hockey rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Golden Valley
The city of Golden Valley has 10 skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Portable toilets are available on site
Hopkins
The city of Hopkins has 6 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Inver Grove Heights
The city of Inver Grove Heights has 9 outdoor skating rinks, including 5 pleasure rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Maplewood
The city of Maplewood has 13 outdoor skating rinks.
- Not all rinks are open yet. Check their website for updates
- They are planning to open warming houses on January 11 if COVID-19 restrictions ease
Maple Grove
Central Park Ice Skating Loop
Central Park of Maple Grove
12000 Central Parkway, Maple Grove
- The loop is 810 feet long and 20 feet wide and is designed for recreational ice skating
- Reservations are not required from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday
- Reservations are required from 4:00 – 9:00 pm Monday – Friday and 10:00 am – 9:00 pm Saturday – Sunday and holidays
- The warming house is closed
- You are able to rent skates during reservation times only ($6/pair)
Minneapolis
The city of Minneapolis has 39 skating rinks and 8 warming houses.

- Note: skating at Loring Park is closed for the season
Minnetonka
The city of Minnetonka has 8 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
New Brighton
As of January 3, the city of New Brighton’s website states their rinks are not ready for skating.
New Hope
The city of New Hope has 3 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Rinks are lit from 4:30 – 9:00 pm
Oakdale
The city of Oakdale has 3 outdoor skating rinks and 1 hockey rink.
Richard Walton Park Pleasure Rink
1584 Hadley Avenue, Oakdale
- Free hot chocolate and complimentary ice scooters available at the Walton Pleasure Rink
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed until at least January 31, 2021
Plymouth
The city of Plymouth has 7 outdoor skating rinks.
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
- Rinks are lit from sunset – 10:00 pm
Roseville
Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval

- You must purchase a ticket in advance to attend
- Skate rental is available
- Masks required to enter facility for skate rental or to use restrooms
Saint Anthony Village
The city of Saint Anthony Village has 3 skating rinks.
- Rinks close at 8:30 pm
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Saint Louis Park
The city of Saint Louis Park has 9 skating rinks with an additional 2 for hockey.
Nelson Park
2500 Georgia Avenue, Saint Louis Park
- The rink at Nelson Park has dedicated times where no hockey sticks or goals are allowed
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 4:00 – 6:00 pm
- Wednesday, Friday: 4:00 – 8:00 pm
- Saturday: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
- Sunday: 12:00 – 2:00 pm
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Saint Paul
The city of Saint Paul has 7 outdoor skating rinks.
- WinterSkate (typically at Landmark Center or CHS Field) is not happening this winter
Shoreview
The city of Shoreview has 7 outdoor skating rinks.
- They are planning to open warming houses on January 11 if COVID-19 restrictions ease
Vadnais Heights
The city of Vadnais Heights has 2 outdoor skating rinks and 2 hockey rinks.
West Saint Paul
The city of West Saint Paul has 6 outdoor pleasure rinks.
- Rinks are lit from 4:00 – 9:00 pm
- Warming houses at all rinks are closed
Woodbury
The city of Woodbury has outdoor skating at 5 locations. As of January 3, the city of Woodbury’s website states not all their rinks are ready for skating
