Know what’s in your mailbox before you open it

While researching when I was going to receive my COVID-19 stimulus, I found out that the trusty United States Postal Service (USPS) will send you a daily email with photos of what mail will be placed inside your mailbox. It’s completely free to sign up.

It’s called Informed Delivery. According to the USPS, users can see images of the exterior address side of incoming letter-size mail and package tracking information on Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, and other trackable parcels. You can choose to receive notifications via email, text message or by logging in to the USPS website.

This is a great resource for those who live on their own and may have mobility issues. And for me, someone who lives in an apartment and may not check their mailbox daily, I know if it’s worth a trip down to the lobby.

Here’s what you need to do to receive USPS Informed Delivery

  1. Head to this website. You will need to verify your address to make sure it is eligible for USPS Informed Delivery.
  2. Those addresses eligible will need to create a free account online.

Through Informed Delivery, you can also check to see that every piece of mail and package you were expected to receive arrived at your home. If it didn’t, you can report it to the USPS for possible law enforcement and investigative purposes.

Again, USPS Informed Delivery is a free service. You can sign up here.
