Exploring Minnesota and Beyond

The best free concerts and live streams to watch while you’re in quarantine

You’re spending a lot of time at home. So are celebrities, musicians and actors. Since they’re not able to perform in front of crowds, they’re taking to Facebook and Instagram for free.

Here’s a roundup of the best performances I’m finding. What have you found? Let me know.

Live streaming

Isaac Hanson from Hanson

Isaac, the oldest brother in the trio, Hanson, performs live daily on Instagram as part of his “Quaranstream” series.

Tim Sigler

The popular Saint Paul based musician is doing “virtual house concerts”, performing covers from Springsteen and others.

Dave Pettigrew

The contemporary Christian artist now goes live on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

On Demand

Andrew Lloyd Webber

The musical theater genius is posting videos nearly daily on his Facebook page while he stays at home. A must visit.

for KING & COUNTRY

I had multiple recommendations on my Facebook page for the concert put on by for KING & COUNTRY on March 27th. Check out their Facebook page for a great collaboration with Dolly Parton.

Garth Brooks

The country superstar was live on Facebook March 16th.

Neil Diamond

Hands…washing hands…reaching out, don’t touch me, I won’t touch you!

Dan Rodriguez

The Minneapolis musician hosted a two-part “Quarantine Sessions” on his Facebook page.

#SongsoftheVirus

Kudos to the Farmington High School Band department for compiling a whole series of videos on Facebook under the hashtag #SongsofTheVirus.

Let It Be

Watch Jake Meyer perform four-parts of The Beatles’ “Let It Be.”

On the Road with Steve Hartman

Breaking away from music, Steve Hartman, who delivers tear-jerking stories on the CBS Evening News, held a four-day “Kindness 101” course targeted towards kids. It’s good for adults to hear, too.

Coronavirus Rhapsody

Finally, this take on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody has more than 2.6 million views on YouTube.
