In 2017, there are exactly 40 days from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Day. And with the elimination of the eighth floor display at Macy’s in downtown Minneapolis and Holiday Lights in the Park in Saint Paul, along with the disappointing change from tradition at Holidazzle, more people than ever are looking for new holiday activities. Enter “40 Ways to Holiday.” Each day between November 23 and January 1 will have at least one event worth checking out, along with plenty of giveaways along the way! Find the full list of days here.
Day 22: Thursday, December 14
Featured pick: Miss Richfield 1981’s Annual Holiday Show

Raised “south of the Crosstown”, Miss Richfield 1981 does an annual stint at the Illusion Theater, an intimate spot along Hennepin Avenue downtown Minneapolis.
Miss R dedicates her life to the “friendly citizens and responsible merchants” of her hometown, and in all truth, represents Minnesota around the world. You might have seen her in Orbitz commercials.
This year’s one-woman show is called “2020 Vision: A Holiday Survival Guide for the New World” and it is NOT for the kids or those easily offended. Any audience member might get a zinger or pulled up on stage. And the antics are now traditions for me. Have you tried singing the words for “Frosty the Snowman” to the tune “Ave Maria”? It oddly works. I have seen Miss Richfield’s holiday show for a few years now. After last year’s show, the guy behind me said to his wife, “He’s got more energy than anyone I’ve ever seen.”
Miss Richfield 1981’s “2020 Vision: A Holiday Survival Guide for the New World” starts December 1st and runs Fridays – Sunday nights through December 23 with addition performances tonight and December 21.

[…] It’s the final weekend for one of my favorite holiday traditions. Drag queen Miss Richfield 1981 hails from Richfield and takes her show around the world, appearing on cruise ships and on television commercials. This isn’t for the kids. But it’ll offer plenty of laughs. Shows run tonight through Saturday at the Illusion Theater in Downtown Minneapolis. Learn more. […]
