On October 24 — a week before Halloween — I received an email asking when my annual holiday lights guide would be posted. I love your excitement for this list! Throughout the years, I’ve heard from many families who use this as part of their holiday traditions, and I’m happy to help. I really enjoy working on this Guide and featuring the businesses and homeowners who dedicate their time to spread holiday cheer.
I couldn’t put together the Minnesota Holiday Lights Guide without the support of sponsors. Special thanks to Sam’s Christmas Village & Light Tour in Somerset, Wisconsin for being the presenting sponsor again this year.

Earlier this year, I presented at a conference of homeowners who are listed in this Guide (yes, they have a conference!). I asked them what they would like the public to know:
- A reminder that you’re in a residential neighborhood. Keep your speed in check and noise to a minimum.
- Do not park in — or block — the driveways of neighbors.
- Pay attention to the weather. Many of these displays will close if it’s too wet (rain), or too windy. Many post updates online, and I’ve linked to their pages below.
- Insider tip: if you want to avoid crowds, do not go the weekend before Christmas. That tends to be the busiest time, according to homeowners.
